The European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) has released its Threat Landscape report for 2023, highlighting the increasing cyber threats faced by the EU, particularly in relation to the upcoming 2024 European elections, with state-nexus actors, cybercriminals, and hacktivists targeting key individuals and employing tactics such as spear-phishing emails, trojanising software packages, and exploiting vulnerabilities in cloud infrastructure, while also misusing AI-powered tools like deep fakes and chatbots in social engineering attacks and information manipulation campaigns.
