Secure personal payments for consumers using trusted-gateway technology

The Challenge

Personal payments are a prime target for fraud and interception: consumers and the services they pay need a way to transact that protects credentials and payment data end to end, without adding friction that stops people paying at all.

The Solution

Delivered as “Aegis-PPG (Personal Payment Gateway)”, this five-month innovation and development project saw NquiringMinds — as sole contractor — develop a secure personal payment gateway addressing the mCommerce challenge: mobile platforms offer greater shopping and payment convenience than ever, but also an ever-greater opportunity for theft and fraud. The competition brief sought products and services that demonstrate secure attributes and reduce the probability of fraud in mobile commerce, and Aegis applied NQM’s secure-data and trusted-exchange engineering to exactly that problem: certificate-based security, protection of personal payment data, and a design intended to sit between existing consumer and payment services without disrupting them.

Outcomes

The recorded output is the Aegis secure personal payment gateway itself. INPUT-NEEDED: confirm deliverables detail and any follow-on exploitation (final report not yet located).
